Members of the Penn State Brandywine community gathered on Sept. 27 to celebrate Stephen Cimbala, distinguished professor of political science, for his 50 years of service to the campus. Cimbala began his career at Brandywine in 1973 and has held multiple roles at the campus, including professor and director of academic affairs. He was also fortunate enough to work under the leadership of John Vairo, the first chancellor (then called campus director) of Brandywine.
Prospective students and their families are invited to attend a visitation program at Penn State Brandywine at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, in the Student Union.
Choosing the right university is an important decision and comparing hundreds of schools can be overwhelming for many high school students. To help make finding the right college easier, Penn State Brandywine will host the Pennsylvania Association of College Admissions Counselors' Delaware County Regional College Fair on Sept. 28 in the Commons/Athletic Center gymnasium.
Thanks to a seed grant from the Office of the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses, Penn State Brandywine was able to watch its garden grow from 2,500 square feet to 3,600 square feet. On September 14, members of the Penn State Brandywine community celebrated the expansion of the campus garden with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The campus garden, which opened in 2014, is housed between the Vairo Library and Orchard Hall, where members of the Brandywine community can connect with nature.
The Penn State Brandywine campus garden’s expansion project, which began in January, was marked as officially completed with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 14.
Earl Catagnus Jr., after a rigorous search process, was hired as a full-time assistant teaching professor of information sciences and technology at Penn State Brandywine.
The Penn State Brandywine Alumni Society will be a sponsor for “Dining Under the Stars” — a weekly outdoor dining event held Wednesday evenings on State Street in Media — throughout the month of September. As part of the Media community, the Brandywine Alumni Society is an event sponsor for the second year in a row.
