Biography
Michael comes to Penn State Brandywine from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio where he served as an instructor and the internship coordinator in Human Development and Family Studies. He attended Drexel University, University of Delaware, and Messiah College. His scholarly interests include family dynamics, community engagement, human services ethics, and the professional development of human service workers.
Michael has taught a variety of introductory and upper level HDFS courses. He is a trained couple and family therapist and has worked in a variety of human service settings in the Philadelphia area. Michael began his academic career as a health and family and consumer sciences teacher in Baltimore. He has written family and consumer science curriculum for the Baltimore County Public Schools and the Maryland State Department of Education.
As instructor and internship coordinator for Brandywine’s Human Development and Family Studies major Michael’s focus is on the professional development of HDFS majors and collaborative partnerships between internship sites and the HDFS program.
