For two former Penn State Brandywine students, the campus’ 50th anniversary celebration will forever hold a special memory as the time of their engagement.
Penn State Brandywine’s volleyball team went pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. The team’s tournament on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 raised funds for the Side Out Foundation, which supports breast cancer treatment and research. The team won all four of its weekend games against Penn State University Athletic Conference opponents.
Delaware County Council recently honored Penn State Brandywine on the occasion of the campus’ 50th anniversary. Classes began at Penn State Delaware County, as it was originally known, on Sept. 25, 1967. Penn State established the local campus at the request of Delaware County officials, who provided land and start-up funding.

Five Penn State campuses have been awarded PepsiCo Challenge Mini Grants to expand community engagement efforts through Penn State’s Sustainable Communities Collaborative (SCC). Penn State Abington, Altoona, Beaver, Behrend and Brandywine will take part in a three-year pilot program to expand the SCC to Penn State communities outside of University Park.
