Brandywine’s rain-soaked men’s soccer players raise the national championship trophy the team won in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association tournament held in Virginia Beach Nov. 9-12. The team defeated Johnson & Wales (North Carolina) with a 1-0 overtime victory, bringing the campus its first-ever national title. Goalkeeper Brandon Welden (red jersey) was named the tournament’s MVP.
Penn State Brandywine is officially the No. 1 team in United States Collegiate Athletic Association Division II men's soccer. It took more than 95 minutes to crown a national champion Monday night as Daniel Willie's overtime goal sent Brandywine past Johnson & Wales (North Carolina) 1-0 in the title game as Brandywine captured the school's first-ever national championship
Penn State Brandywine students Vaishali Devarakonda, Himani Vommi and Renu Bandaru wore traditional dresses and displayed colorful bracelets and mehndi (body art) for the campus’ celebration of Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights. The event was coordinated by Multilingual Student Programs and included halal food, music, dancing, and painting of diyas (small clay oil lamps).
