From “honeycombs” made with bright yellow boxes of Bisquick pancake mix and Lipton tea to a “castle” created with boxes of crackers and cereal, Penn State Brandywine students were up to the challenge to design and build structures along a sustainability theme in this year’s Un-Canny Competition.
Congratulations to this week’s #Brandywinner, Gabe Schaefer! Gabe is president of the campus’ Sustainovation Club, vice president of the Brandywine Dems Club and has performed undergraduate research with Professor of Earth Sciences Laura Guertin.
To help raise awareness about hunger, Penn State Brandywine students created sustainability-themed structures made entirely from food items. After the structures were disassembled, the food was donated to the Media Food Bank.
Sophomore Max Savidge, who was part of the Castle on the Hill team, helped load the donated food items that were taken to the Media Food Bank after the competition.
Highlighting the accomplishments and contributions of two notable women, Brandywine honored sophomore Jemimah Mwaba and Lecturer in Information Sciences and Technology Nannette D’Imperio at its annual Women’s History Month program.
Penn State Brandywine's Commission for Women presented two awards for outstanding contributions to the campus and community at the commission’s annual Women’s History Month luncheon on March 12. Sophomore Jemimah Mwaba (left) received the student Woman of the Year award, while Lecturer in Information Sciences and Technology Nannette D'Imperio received the faculty Woman of the Year award.
