Penn State Brandywine’s and Penn State Berks’ LaunchBoxes collaborated with Penn State Great Valley to hold the Fall 2023 Idea TestLab Pitch Competition on Nov. 8. Nine startup business owners participated in the competition, which included two students from Brandywine, as well as seven members of the campus’ respective communities.
Khalid Jordan, a third-year business major at Penn State Brandywine, was one of eight Penn State students in the Commonwealth to receive funding for his small business at the 2023 Invent Penn State Venture & IP Conference in Hershey on Oct. 16.
At an event held on Oct. 31, leaders from the Student Philanthropy Network announced that the class of 2024 has voted to create the University Park Undergraduate Association Basic Needs Endowment as their class gift. The fund will provide sustained support for students facing hardships in pursuit of their degree.
Laura Guertin, distinguished professor of Earth sciences at Penn State Bradywine, will give the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences’ 2023 Lattman Visiting Scholar of Science and Society Lecture on Thursday, Nov. 9, in 401 Steidle Building.
The University Libraries, as part of the LibWell initiative, is currently piloting three sensory rooms, located within Penn State Berks’ Thun Library, Penn State Brandywine’s Vairo Library, and in Pattee Library on the University Park campus, to assist students with sensory impairments and neurodiversity.
For Julie Foeldes and Alexa Anderson, returning to Penn State Brandywine for the celebration of the softball team’s 10th anniversary was a reminder of how academics and athletics influenced them both personally and professionally. After graduating from Penn State and completing graduate degrees, they are now working in their chosen fields.
