August 20 - New Student Convocation

10 a.m., Campus lawn
The annual Penn State Brandywine convocation kicks-off the academic year, as first-year students attend various welcome events.

The day begins with the convocation ceremony. Faculty and staff join students under the tent on campus. The chancellor, director of academic affairs, director of student affairs, faculty representatives, and the Student Government Association welcome students to Penn State.

The convocation ceremony concludes with the alma mater. Students then follow their orientation leaders to academic college and adviser meetings, where they receive information about their major and meet with their advisers for the first time.

After a barbecue lunch and club rush, the day ends with a variety of workshops. The sessions include: financial planning, advising and career services, academic integrity, athletics, and international orientations.
