A Message from the Chancellor

A Message from the Chancellor

Dear Brandywine Alumni, Faculty, Staff, Parents, Donors, & Friends:

Fifty years ago, Penn State Delaware County, our original namesake, opened its doors under a roller-skating rink in Chester, Pennsylvania with 236 students and 11 full-time faculty members. Since 1967, our campus has evolved to become Penn State Brandywine, a 112-acre campus in Media, Pa. with nearly 1,500 students and 12 four-year degrees.

We are proud to have established a firm tradition of providing a world class Penn State education in Delaware County. Our students are diverse, hardworking and unique – with shared characteristics of dedication and Penn State pride.

In August 2017, Brandywine opened the first residence hall, Orchard Hall – named in honor of the apple orchard our campus stands upon – and a Student Union, which includes Parsons Hall, our dining hall, a bookstore, and recreation space. It is only fitting to celebrate our 50th Anniversary in the new Student Union, which symbolizes how far Brandywine has come in the last fifty years.

Whether you or a family member attended, taught, or visited Brandywine – please consider purchasing tickets, sponsoring the event, placing an advertisement, or donating an auction item in support of our Penn State students. All proceeds will directly benefit the Brandywine Emergency Scholarship Fund.

We look forward to celebrating with you soon!

Kristin R. Woolever, Chancellor
