Counseling Services offers educational programs of general interest to the Penn State Brandywine community. This allows our office to serve a larger number of students than would otherwise be possible. For example, during Orientation events throughout the year there might be a "Personal Issues Series" offered to explore issues like homesickness, separation and loss, acquaintance rape, and affirmation of diversity. Programs are presented for campus health and wellness including responsible partying, sexual violence, and events during times such as National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week, Unity Week, Veteran's Day, and Gay Pride Week.
Counseling Services staff also participate on University committees to address issues such as diversity and LGBT concerns. On occasion, a student, faculty or staff member may wish to talk with a counselor about a student suffering from emotional stress or about referrals. Such consultations are available by phone and in person to all campus faculty and staff and inter-departmental communication and consultation is welcomed and encouraged.
