What are you going to complete?
Begin by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for federal and state aid consideration. Students interested in scholarships should be aware of possible separate scholarship applications.
When should you apply?
First year students should submit the FAFSA by February 15 for maximum consideration of student aid programs. Submitting the FAFSA by the recommended date for first year students ensures that Pennsylvania resident students meet the PHEAA state grant deadline of May 1.
Transfer students who already have a FAFSA on file through another institution and will be scheduling classes at Penn State for the Spring semester should log onto the FAFSA website and add our school code 003329 to their FAFSA. The state grant agency (PHEAA) should also be notified by logging onto their website at http://www.pheaa.org/ and filling out a "Change of Enrollment Information Form.”
How do you apply?
Students submit the FAFSA to the Department of Education either via the web or the paper application. The Department of Education processes the complete application and sends a copy of the information to the schools the student listed on the FAFSA, to the state grant agency of the student's home residency state, and to the student in the form of the Student Aid Report (SAR).
