Sharon A. Manco received her B.S. in Elementary and Kindergarten Education from Penn State University, her M.A. in Reading Education from Glassboro State College, NJ and is currently a doctoral candidate in Special Education at Penn State.
In addition to teaching education courses, Mrs. Manco is the Disability Contact Liaison at Penn State Brandywine. Her research is currently focused on the effectiveness of accommodations for students with disabilities. Mrs. Manco also serves as co-chair of the campus’ Commission for Women. In addition, she serves on the campus’ Facilities Advisory Committee, the executive board of the campus’ Faculty Senate (Parliamentarian) and more recently the Bookstore Advisory Committee. She serves on the College of Educations’ steering committee for the laptop initiative – EDUCATE, and along with her colleagues in the Elementary Education in Multi-Cultural Settings major, is implementing the Task Stream e-portfolio in her classes. Furthermore, with Barbara Gottlieb and Jean McKay, she developed a differentiated instruction certificate program for continuing education. Along with Dr. Eric Stein and Martin P. Manco, she co-authored, “A Knowledge-based System to Assist University Administrators in Meeting Disability Act Requirements,” published in Expert Systems with Applications, volume 21 (2001).
Mrs. Manco enjoys travelling and is interested in study abroad programs for students. She also enjoys sewing and needlework in her spare time.
