Introducing the LION OWL! Penn State Brandywine’s On-Line Writing Lab.
A Virtual Writing Studio!
Do you work long hours?
Do you seldom have time to sit down to write until after 6:00 p.m.?
Do you want to become a better writer?
Do you want to save gas money on a trip to PSU?
Let the LION OWL fly to your rescue!
The LION OWL is a service we are offering to students and staff at the Penn State Brandywine campus who, because of work or other commitments, find it difficult to use our face-to-face Writing Studio in the upper level of the Vairo Library. The LION OWL has the same mission as our walk-in Center: to help our students and staff become better writers by promoting and supporting the teaching, practice, and study of writing as a form of engaged critical inquiry and social action.
The OWL will be staffed by professional tutors, the same ones who work in the Writing Studio, and who will be on duty in the evening to give you possibly immediate, confidential help on your writing assignments. You will work one-on-one with a tutor.
We do not write or proofread your papers, but we will help you understand your assignment, brainstorm ideas, evaluate your thesis, organization, support, and transitions. We will also assist you in editing and/or documenting your work.
Hours of operation vary by semester and you will need to log in to the OWL 30 minutes prior to end of the session.
- Sessions will last from one-half hour to 40 minutes, depending on use by other students.
- You will need to pick your paper up within TWO DAYS of submission or it will disappear.
- You will need to have access to a computer with Internet access and be familiar with ANGEL.
Click here for instructions to use ANGEL and self-enroll in the Lion OWL.
Spring Semester Hours (starting Jan. 26) - Sunday-Thursday, 7-10 p.m.
