American Studies Course Cluster

First implemented in 1999 to address the needs of students for whom English is a second language, the Cluster focuses on an American Studies course that introduces American culture from an historical perspective, at the same time exploring the values, practices, and beliefs of American culture. Other Cluster courses focus on strengthening reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills while drawing on the content of American Studies. Click here for more information on the American Studies Course Cluster.

Study Skills Workshops

There are six one-time workshops focusing on specific study skills such as time or stress management and test-taking strategies. Workshops are offered spring and fall semester during Common Hour in 110 Vairo. View our schedule.

Launch Summer Program

This is an individualized program designed to prepare entering students for their college math and English classes while building study skills and to introduce students to the campus as well as to aid them in developing the coping skills necessary to be successful in college at Penn State.

World Campus Testing

Brandywine Learning serves as a location for online World Campus Testing. Students that need to utilize this service can do so by contacting Christine Brown, Coordinator of Brandywine Learning to complete their World Campus Proctor Form. After completion of the form, students must set up an appointment time during the day when their exam can be proctored in the center.

Contact Christine Brown at cmf22@psu.edu or 610-892-1463 for these services.

Make-Up Testing

Students can take make-up exams in Brandywine Learning after first making an appointment with staff in Brandywine Learning. Due to our new location, make-up testing can no longer occur during Common Hour. Students may schedule to take their exams at either 9 a.m., Tuesdays or Thursdays, or at 1:30 p.m., on Fridays. Stop by to schedule a specific time, or contact Christine Brown at cmf22@psu.edu.
