Recipient of the Commonwealth College Award for Teaching Excellence, 2005. Recipient of the George W. Atherton Award for Excellence in Teaching, 2006.
Scholarly/Research Interests: innovative uses of technology to enhance student learning in introductory-level geoscience courses; incorporating service learning with the geosciences.

Scholarly/Research Interests: Mathematical modeling of stream basis discharge; history of technology utilization, e.g., early transportation in Eastern North America-canals, railroads, etc; technology in the classroom using computer-based instruction to enhance instruction; environmental education-especially in training elementary school teachers to use the outdoors for educational purposes.
