For the B.A. degree in American Studies, a minimum of 123 credits is required:

Students may declare the American Studies major in their fourth semester or after and must have at least a 2.00 average in coursework already completed. Transfer courses from other universities must be at the level of C or above.

General Education: 45 credits

Bachelor of Arts degree requirements: 24 credits

  • 3 credits each in Arts, Social Sciences, Humanities, and Other Cultures
  • Foreign Language (0-12 credits, depending on your demonstrated proficiency)

Major Requirements: 33 credits

Supporting courses (24 credits): select 9 credits in two of the areas listed below, 6 credits in one additional area, and 12 credits at the 400 level distributed in at least two of the areas:

  • American Social Sciences
  • American Arts and Humanities

Electives: at least 21 credits
